Montana Road Stage Racing Makes a Spectacular Comeback!

2025 Roadeo Stage Race Delivers Fire and Fierce Competition 🔥🚴‍♀️

Three days. Three towns. One unforgettable race.
The 2025 Roadeo Stage Race, held July 11–13, brought the heat—literally and figuratively—as 65 racers battled through a brutal mix of elevation, intensity, and head-to-head showdowns across western Montana.

From the punishing climbs of the Phillipsburg road stage to the blistering temperatures during the Missoula crit, this year’s Roadeo demanded everything from its riders—and rewarded fans with some of the most thrilling finishes we’ve ever seen.

Stage Breakdown:

Stage 1 – Gold Rush Time Trial:
The race kicked off in Drummond, with a fast, technical TT that set the early tone. Margins were tight, and the top riders wasted no time laying down serious wattage to claim early GC positions.

Below is Meghan Johnston, doing aero beautifully in the TT.

Stage 2 – Pintler Classic Road Race:
The queen stage, in Phillipsburg , was a grueling day of climbing which shattered the peloton, with attacks flying on the final ascent. The eventual stage winner launched a decisive move in the final kilometers of the sprint to the finish!

The course is a drop dead gorgeous 40 mile ride (2 laps for the upper categories) through rolling hills and beautiful waters.

Stage 3 – Bitter Critter Criterium:
With temperatures soaring and legs already torched, the crit at Fr. Missoula turned into a tactical war of attrition. A late-stage breakaway nearly stuck, but a roaring pack sprinted it down in the final stretch for a photo finish that had the crowd on its feet.

Cornering skills on display at the beautiful Ft. Missoula crit course!

What’s Next: Roadeo 2026

Race organizers, Frontiers Racing, are already building toward an even more intense edition next year. Expect new course challenges, deeper competition, and the same no-excuses test of endurance and strategy.

Starting in Philipsburg, racers will roll along the foothills of the Pintler Mountains, tackle a challenging dirt sector on Rock Creek Road, and climb back up to sweeping views of the Anaconda Range before dropping back down into Philipsburg.

This just in! All women fields will receive FREE registration (normally $60) through Sunday, June 30. The race organizers just want to get as many women racing this beautiful course as possible. Never raced before? Not a problem…they’ve got you covered in the women’s 4/5 field! See all the deets on our event calendar.

Women Racing Bikes Fast in the Dirt!

The Bandita in us is pushing limits and breaking through our inner boundaries. Together, alongside our fellow Bandita’s – we are one. Head down, eyes up, with a smirk of determination. It’s time to break through, shine and be free.

The Dusty Bandita is a women’s gravel bike race built not only to expand our presence in a male-dominated sport of bike racing, but to inspire ALL women to go beyond their limits, physically and mentally – dig deep, climb the big climbs, and take the inside line; Breathe in the crisp Montana air and leave our cares behind. The distance options available are for the racer or adventurer alike. We want to instill the feeling of freedom and confidence while we ultimately broaden the field of women cyclists entering cycling events throughout the local area, state, and nation.

Come ride for the experience, the personal challenge, and the spirit of competition. Let’s rally together, fellow Bandita’s, while exploring on two wheels; don’t look back, we’re forging forward! See you at the starting line on June 1, 2024!
