1.2.2             Qualifying Road Races for each Category

Mass start races include road races, criteriums, cyclocross, etc. The definition for qualifying races is stated in the upgrade section of the 2003 USCF Rulebook. For Montana races I will determine for each race what an adequate field size is for races to qualify for upgrade points.

For Category 5-4 upgrades, I will accept collegiate races if the license holder requesting an upgrade has participated in NCCA Collegiate races. Collegiate races may will not be used for upgrades higher than Cat 4 status. All other sanctioned USCF races will be used for Cat 5-4 upgrades.

1.2.2            Qualifying Road Races for each Category, cont.

For Category 4-3 upgrades, I will not approve an upgrade if you have only done Montana races unless you’ve competed in the Ecology Center Classic Stage Race. If not, you will need

out-of-state racing experience with larger field sizes as part of your racing resume.

For Cat 3-2 and Cat 2-1 upgrades, I will not approve an upgrade if you have only done Montana races including the Ecology Center Classic Stage Race. Out-of-state racing experience will need to constitute the bulk of your racing resume.
