You want race opportunities? We got race
opportunities.
Saturday Staging/Start: Rossiter School
in Helena valley. (Same staging area as MTV RR 2002
& 2003). Directions: From Helena, go north on Montana Ave to right
on Sierra Drive. Rossiter School is just before I-15 overpass. From Great
Falls, take Lincoln Road exit and right on Lincoln Road to left on Montana. Go
south until left on Sierra Drive. Registration will be in school parking lot.
Saturday Race Course: 20 mile flat
loop out in Helena valley. One 2-3 mile section of firm
gravel road and one 2 mile section of patched potholed road. Otherwise,
very straightforward with only one very short climb. Normal gearing
is fine (note: remember junior gearing restrictions). This course is open to
vehicular traffic and racers have use of the right lane only. Yellow line
violations will result in disqualification.
Sunday Staging/Start: Spring Meadow Lake Park in Helena, on
west edge of town.
(Same staging area as Helena Triathlon) Directions: From the west or east,
follow Highway 12 and get yourself to the west end of town. At farthest west traffic light, turn and go
north on Joslyn St. Follow as it bends left and turns to Country Club Lane.
Spring Meadow Lake Park is just a half-mile down on your left. Registration,
bathrooms, and an opportunity to jump in the lake after the race are all here.
Please don’t park on access street. Plenty of parking
is available inside the park.
Sunday Race Course: 27 mile paved loop. Normal gearing is
fine (note: remember junior gearing restrictions). One
steady, mile-long, shallow grind on Birdseye Road and a few rollers. New finish near Birdseye/Lincoln Road intersection. Ride
back to start parking approx. 10 miles/or plant extra car at Silver City Bar. 3
train crossings, two of which could see some action and one traffic light. Be
aware of train and car traffic. This course is open to vehicular traffic and
racers have use of the right lane only. Yellow line violations will result in
disqualification.
Miscellaneous: Entry fee is $17 each day. Each race is a
stand alone event for the Montana Subaru Cup; however, omnium scoring will be
used for prize money. Points will be awarded for placings in each RR with
highest cumulative points determining prize money in each division (3 deep).
Sunday’s road race will carry slightly heavier points and will serve as a
tie-break if necessary. Racers do not have to compete in both events to be eligible
for prize money, though competing in both certainly improves one’s chances of
finishing “in the money” overall. Prize money ceremony: after Sunday’s race at
Spring Meadow Lake.
All USAC rules
apply. One-day and annual licenses available at registration.
Helmets at all times or DQ.
