Montana 'Cross Race #5

Sunday Nov. 4, 2001

Kalispell, MT

In contrast to last year's snow and cold temperatures, 27 racers this Sunday

braved warm temperatures and sunny skies in race #5 of the Montana Super

Prestige Cyclocross Series.

In the men's 'A' field, it came down to a race for 2nd place, as Geoff

Proctor (Montana Velo), rode away from the pack in the first lap. Brink

Kuchenbrod (Montana Velo), and Andy Minier (MSU Cycling) were stuck together

like horse manure in a pedal cleat for all 8 laps, with Andy winning out in

the final sprint. Geoff is setting a great example for his Junior racers,

including Brian Wirak (6th), Steve Coen (10th), and Nathan Grovom (15th).

It's great to see these young guys doing so well in the sport, especially

'cross.

Thanks to all the racers who attended and all the volunteers; Patti, Nola,

Dave, Jeff, Tom and Dustin. You guys made it work!

Thanks also to our sponsor E-CAPS and Flathead County Parks and Rec for use

of the park.
